The Execution (Photojournalism)

Execution of a Vietcong Guerilla

In this picture, taken by Eddie Adams. General Nguyen Ngoc Loan shoots a Veitcong prisoner in the head and this picture is taken just as the bullet penetrates his skull. This picture was sent around the world and shocked the Americans because of the reality of war and the sacrifice that people must go through.

I think this picture demonstrates the reality of war and how harsh it can be, no matter who the victim may be. It is said that Ngoc Loan was only interested in assassinating the prisoner because the AP press corps were there to capture the moment.

Compared to the in depth video. The photo gives you a lasting impression and is also a decisive moment. But the video gives you more of a insight in information about the whole situation, on why he shot the prisoner in the first place, shocking all of America and later the world.

Robert Capa and Tony Vaccaro (War Photography)

Tony Vaccaro.
Born December 20, 1922.

During his life Tony Vaccaro captured the most famous war photographers of the era, showing people at home the extent of war and the reality of death in different parts of the world.

but Tony Vaccaro was a soldier, a part of the war... not a photographer. so his works were not taken seriously until a few years after the war so was actually never thought of as a photographer during the war, juggling around a camera and a gun.

In one moment... even thinking about photography rather than survival. When taking a picture of a person on fire in front of a tank.

Robert Capa.

Robert Cappa was a Hungarian combat Photographer and he defined wartime journalism when he joined soldiers in World War II, documenting their battles in grim images of death close-up detail.
really shining a light on reality for people back home.

He documented many wars... The Spanish Civil war, The 1948 Arab-Israeli war and the first Indochina war.

He died in battle by stepping on a landmine.
